It all started in 1977 when a small card room and Caledonia, Michigan became the first Sam’s Joint. Sam, a gourmet cook, establish vocalist and jazz saxophonist, began inviting friends over for good music, songs in a specially prepared ribs. To cover holes on the walls and ceilings, Sam use various items from his large collection of antiques and curiosities.
News got around an invitations to Sam’s Joint became more popular. Sam began buying rundown outlying buildings. He added antiques, curiosities in Christmas lights and open the doors to good food and fun. His popular Sam’s Joint Restaurants are famous for ribs for paired with his special recipe barbecue sauce and have become a West Michigan institution.
